Blossoms and a new camera

Roses at Turkenschanz

I've been playing with my birthday present, a Canon EOS Rebel T3i. It's a lot of fun. BUT, I'm feeling the learning curve. I've taken a lot of blurred photos!

A rose in the Volksgarten

Thankfully, it's summer and the parks in Vienna are full of blooming plants. I've been experimenting with flower shots. So much possibility; so much to learn...

In the Volksgarten - An orange iris?
Any thoughts on how best to learn about a new camera?

  1. The best way is always to go out and shoot as much as one could. Everyone has different preferences even when it comes down to photography. Eventually, you will find what interests you the most, and from there, find photos and references on-line or even in photography books, and then look for photography techniques. Aesthetics are in you, but techniques are acquired.

it's a good camera, I am sure you will have loads of great photos to come. Have fun! :)

  2. I like the first shot. The focus is sharp and you can see a hazy background--I love that kind of shot ! Good Birthday present! Are you back in Vienna ?
